The Board of Directors of the Arts Council of Rockland proudly announces the appointment of Cheryl Baun as its new Executive Director.
Please join us as we welcome Cheryl Baun, M.U.P., a well-rounded non-profit fundraising professional who has worked at and volunteered for nonprofit organizations for 20 years. Over the course of her career, she has led a variety of organizations, ranging from grassroots groups to well-established institutions and has worked with a myriad of causes, from immigrants’ rights to healthcare. Before coming to ACOR, she was the Director of Institutional Advancement at the National Hemophilia Foundation, where as part of her responsibilities, she oversaw $6M in annual revenue from corporate partners, led volunteer fundraising committees, and coached corporate executives on how to fundraise effectively and develop active volunteers.
As a passionate believer that everyone can learn to be an effective fundraiser, Cheryl excels in designing holistic development strategies. In her capacity as a consultant, she has worked on a wide range of projects for organizations such as the Center for Urban Entrepreneurship and Economic Development, Job Path, The Rockland County Pride Center, Penguin Repertory Theatre, and End of Life Choices New York, to name a few.
Cheryl is a graduate of Vassar College with a B.A. in Sociology and holds a Master’s degree in Urban Planning from the Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service at New York University. She is also a graduate of the Entrepreneurial Training Program through the Women’s Enterprise Development Center (WEDC).
She also serves on the board of directors of the Rockland Business Women’s Network and is co-owner of Karenderya, a casual, family-friendly restaurant that serves Filipino- and other Asian-inspired dishes in the village of Nyack.
Having ignited a love and appreciation for the arts in the late 90s, when she was a member of a Filipino indigenous performing arts troupe in New York City, Cheryl is thrilled to join Rockland County’s vibrant arts community as the Executive Director of the Arts Council of Rockland.
As the Arts Council of Rockland celebrates its 45th year of supporting and promoting artists and the role of the arts in Rockland County, we look forward to strengthening our position as a catalyst for new ideas and the glue that holds together the County’s diverse group of artists and arts entrepreneurs.
Cheryl is available by appointment to assist you with your needs, chat, and answer questions. Our offices are on the 2nd floor of building 24, in room A, at the Garner Arts Center 55 West Railroad Avenue, Garnerville, NY 10923
