Applications for 2010 Community Arts Grants Now Available
Arts Council to hold Information Meetings
The Arts Council of Rockland will award grants to eligible non-profit organizations and artists sponsored by an eligible organization to assist with the payment of artist fees, marketing fees, direct administrative expenses and other direct arts-related expenses for projects open to the public and occurring in Rockland County between January 1, 2010 and December 31, 2010.

The funds are made possible through the Decentralization Program of the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) and a generous grant secured by Assemblywoman Ellen Jaffee. The Arts Council of Rockland (ACOR) will award 2 grants of $2,500 each to Rockland artists through the 2010 Individual Artist Grant Program. This program is made possible through a grant from the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA).

This grant is designed to provide direct support to artists of all disciplines to create original new work that will enhance public participation in the arts by directly engaging the community in the artist's creative process. Project proposals should reflect a commitment to community life and culture and highlight the role of the artist as a community resource. Projects must be initiated by the artist and engage the community through active participation and/or production of the project.
Web Marketing 201 Workshop: Using FaceBook, Twitter & LinkedIn
Tom Ossa of Rockland Web Design to lead workshop for artists and arts organizations
Laugh, cry and learn your way through the exciting world of social networking and launch into the realms of Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn by attending the Arts Council of Rockland's (ACOR) workshop "Web Marketing 201". Led by Tom Ossa of Rockland Web Design, this two-plus hour workshop will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2009, beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the ACOR Spring Valley office, located at 7 Perlman Drive. Admission is free for members of the Arts Council and $25 for non-members.
In this workshop participants will learn: the features of FaceBook, LinkedIn and Twitter; how to create profiles on each social networking site; step by step instructions how to build your following; marketing to your audience; and tracking your progress. Armed with this knowledge, you can steadily create a grass-roots marketing campaign that will generate more awareness and profit for your business.
