$14,200 in Scholarships to be Awarded by the Arts Council of Rockland
On Saturday, May 17, 2008, the Arts Council of Rockland will present checks totaling $14,200 to six (6) graduating high school students who are residents of Rockland pursuing studies in their art form at a public or private university, college or conservatory located in New York State in the fall of 2008. The Ceremony will take place beginning at 7:30 PM at the offices of the Arts Council located at 7 Perlman Drive, Spring Valley, New York. State Senator Thomas Morahan is responsible for securing the bulk of the funds that are being awarded. Private funders are responsible for providing additional funds. The Arts Council of Rockland (ACOR) was responsible for the selection, administration and awarding of funds.
The students who will receive the scholarships are:
Benlin Alexander, a student at Clarkstown South High School, who will be attending Rochester Institute of Technology to study visual arts
Sarah Brenner, a student at Clarkstown North High School, who will be attending Ithaca College to study theater
Gabrielle Godino, a student at Clarkstown North High School, who will be attending Pratt Institute to study visual art
Keryn Kleinman, a student at Clarkstown North High School, who will be attending Purchase College to study music
Amanda Rossi, a student at Tappan Zee High School, who will attending Manhattan School of Music to study music
Shelby Yamin, a student at Tappan Zee High School, who will be attending Manhattan School of Music to study music
Senior Artists Invited to Exhibit at the 32nd Annual Golden Harvest Senior Exhibit
Senior artists are invited to participate in the 32nd Annual Golden Harvest Exhibit. This event is sponsored by the Arts Council of Rockland (ACOR) and funded, in part, by Key Bank. The exhibit, to be held at the Arts Council of Rockland, 7 Perlman Drive, Spring Valley, will be on view beginning Sunday, July 13, 2008 through Monday, August 25, 2008. Exhibitors must be 60 years of age or older and a resident of Rockland County. Non-residents may exhibit if they are 60 years of age or older and a current member of the Arts Council of Rockland.
