2024 Artists’ Support Fund Recipients

The 2024 Artists’ Support Fund Committee selected 13 Rockland County artists to receive funding out of a very competitive field.  Below are the recipients sharing how the Artists’ Support Fund will make a difference in their practice!

Katie Elevitch

Thank you so much for this award! I will use these funds to directly support the hiring of a website designer to help create an online archive for my Multi-Arts Storytelling project "Abandoned Places: Sight, Stories, Sound" which was exhibited in September 2023 at Rockland Center for the Arts. A key component of this archive is being able to properly showcase and make easily accessible the video, audio and other exhibit elements in an online format that aligns with the intention of the project.

Jody Ferber

I am a cellist, composer, and director of EcoTones Concerts and I'm thrilled to be a recipient of a 2024 Artists' Support Fund Grant, which will help cover recording studio costs to document my recent chamber jazz compositions inspired by public nature spaces.  This boost means a lot right now as I head into the recording studio as a composer/ensemble leader for the first time since becoming a mother in 2013, allowing me to reemerge on the creative music scene with well-documented recent work. Thank you, ACOR and the RCF!

Helene Fisher

I am grateful to be a recipient of ACOR Artist’s Support Fund. This grant will provide me with funds for coursework to support the development and refinement of my new poetry collection-in-progress.

Priya Gunaseharan

Thanks to the help of Artists’ Support Fund, I will purchase upgraded equipment for sound and video production, allowing me to bring high quality self-produced projects to completion on a tight budget as an independent performing artist.

Brian Hart

Thank you ACOR!  My work recently has involved a different way of painting than before and has called for a lot of experimentation.  I will use this grant to invest in new materials so I can explore my process with a variety of media and mediums.

Pat Hickman

I am very grateful for being awarded one of the Artist’s Support Fund grants. This will allow me to purchase specific art supplies (sausage casings) to create the major new installation for an upcoming solo exhibition at Garner Art Center from September 7-October 27, 2024. Thank you ACOR and the Rockland Community Foundation for this support for individual artists.

Kahori Kamiya

As a Japanese artist, I work in sculpture, painting, video, and performance. My creative expression is profoundly influenced by my motherhood experience, seamlessly intertwined with Japanese spirituality, resonating harmoniously with the natural world. With ACOR's generous support, I aim to acquire essential art materials to sustain and further develop my artistic practice.

Lisa Karrer

As an interdisciplinary installation artist from Rockland County, I’m so grateful for the opportunity to expand my vision outwards to museums and cultural venues throughout the United States. The Artist Fund helps make this possible by granting me support monies for my curatorial assistant, who provides her invaluable professional guidance and outreach, getting my large-scale projects out into the world. Artists can’t go it alone, and this grant is a wonderful gift — thank you!

Andrew Lamb

I am very appreciative and honored to have been selected to be a recipient of the ACOR Artist Support Fund Award 2024.  It is of great importance for the artist to have a well established arts organization that not only supports the creative aspect, but is also supportive in helping one navigate through the business of art. This award is very beneficial for me and I plan to use it to buy supplies, cover the cost of rehearsal fees, and hire an administrative assistant to promote and market the performance on social media platforms.

Amanda Peckler

I am a Rockland-based harpist who is passionate about using the harp to create healing spaces and experiences that help people connect within themselves and one another. I am so grateful for the ACOR Artist's Support Fund, which will enable me to elevate my harp practice tremendously. These funds will be used for instrument materials and sound equipment, essential for hosting enriching sound healing experiences. This opportunity will especially allow me to extend the reach of my instrument and its healing qualities.

Dalia Peralta

I’m an emerging illustrator and art educator, whose work is heavily inspired by nature and the human experience. This grant will be fundamental in helping me to establish my art practice. It helps cover necessary administrative fees and art supplies, so I can focus on creating new work and building a creative community. I’m so grateful to be selected for the 2024 Artist’s Support Fund. Thank you!

John Rosis

I am grateful to be selected for the Arts Council of Rockland Artist’s Support Grant. Funding will be used for the purchase of supplies for the creation of new experimental print media. Funding will also be used for digital scanning of finished artwork to help support fundraising initiatives by nonprofit organizations.

Glynis Sweeny

I am grateful to receive an ACOR Artist's Support Fund grant. This grant will allow me to learn silkscreen printmaking, which I have been interested in for a very long time. I traditionally use pencils to create finely rendered drawings that are often finished in Photoshop and I am excited to combine the old with the new and hope to create something beautiful.
