The Arts Council of Rockland (ACOR) established the Artists’ Support Fund to support individual Rockland County artists in sustaining their creative practice and/or developing new works of art. The Arts Alive grant category is one of ArtsWestchester’s most effective means of supporting artists and arts activities throughout Westchester and Rockland Counties.
Funding is available for organizations and artists to offer community engagement programs, exhibitions, performances, and the creation of new works.
Arts Alive Grants are made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrant program- a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of Governor and the NYS Legislature.

The NEA Big Read, a partnership with Arts Midwest, is a program that awards grants ranging from $5,000 to $20,000 to organizations for community reading programs designed around a single NEA Big Read book. Programming for the 2026-2027 grant cycle will center around the theme America250 with titles that celebrate and honor the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, marking America’s Semiquincentennial. Applications for the 2026-2027 cycle are now open. The deadline to submit an Intent to Apply is January 15, 2026. Full applications are due January 29, 2026.
The Creative Forces Community Engagement Grant is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) in partnership with Mid-America Arts Alliance (M-AAA). This grant program aims to improve the health, well-being, and quality of life for military-connected populations through cost-sharing grants of $10,000 to $25,000 for emerging and advanced arts engagement projects that take place after July 1, 2026 and end on or before June 30, 2027. The deadline is January 15, 2026 at 11:59 CT.
Musical Theater Songwriting Challenge is an opportunity for high school students to develop and showcase musical compositions that could be a part of a musical theater production. Honoring the semiquincentennial of the United States of America, the 2025-26 Songwriting Challenge celebrates the nation’s rich artistic heritage and creativity by shining a spotlight on musical theater. A partnership with the National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT), this program invites young songwriters from every state across the country to submit songs celebrating the rich tapestry of American stories showcasing their unique voices, imaginations, and musical sensibilities to help shape the future of this uniquely American art form.
Shakespeare in American Communities provides grants of up to $30,000 that connect young people across the country to Shakespeare’s plays. Grants support performances and workshops in schools and in the justice system, and apprenticeships for early-career theater professionals. Applications for the 2026-2027 cycle are now open. A mandatory Intent to Apply is due January 29, 2026. Full applications are due February 12, 2026.

NYSCA Capital Projects Fund (Capital Funding Grant)
This is a competitive grant from the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) that provides capital funding to New York State nonprofit arts and cultural organizations for facility improvements, renovations, expansions, and capital equipment. Funding is available in multiple categories (such as small/midsize improvements, large capital projects, and capital design grants), with awards ranging typically from $10,000 up to several million dollars depending on the category and project scope. The program supports projects that strengthen organizational capacity, improve accessibility and sustainability of cultural spaces, and enhance community impact.
