ACOR Opens New Hidden Treasure Gallery with Ribbon-Cutting Event!

On Tuesday, September 14, 2021, the Arts Council of Rockland held a Ribbon-Cutting and Artists’ Reception at its new Hidden Treasure Gallery at the Palisades Center in West Nyack, NY.

John Wagner, ACOR’s Board President, welcomed the crowd of about 30-40 people. Executive director Cheryl Baun shared how the new gallery space was about 2 years in the making and involved the work of many individuals, including Keri Cunningham, director of marketing for the Palisades Center and her team, along with ACOR’s dedicated Gallery Committee.

New York State Senator Elijah Reichlin-Malnick (38th Senate District) and New York State Assemblyman Ken Zebrowski (Assembly District 96) both spoke of their strong commitment to prioritizing the arts in Rockland County. Jeff Gillies of Clarkstown Town Supervisor George Hoehmann’s office also attended and shared the Town’s excitement of having the new gallery located at the Palisades Center, which is located within the Town of Clarkstown.

After the remarks, ACOR Gallery Committee Chair, LIsa D’Amico, introduced each of the 5 ACOR Member Artists, whose work is currently in the gallery’s inaugural exhibit: Joyce Byrnes, B.A. D’Alessandro, David D’Ostilio, Trine Giaever, and Jennifer Massenat. Attendees then had the opportunity to view the exhibit and hear from the artists. The current work will be on view through the end of September, with a new exhibit scheduled for mid-October.
