Dear ACOR Supporters and Friends:
During this most bizarre and challenging year, we at ACOR have been uplifted by your ongoing support of the arts. Of the many things your support has enabled us to do, one of the most gratifying and timely was the launch of our new Artist's Support Fund, administered via the Rockland Community Foundation.
““Throughout history artistic expression has played a critical role in defining who we are as a society. Whether its through traditional media (such as painting and such) or more expressive means the arts are a form of communication and fosters our need for creativity and fulfillment. We probably all agree on this, Yet the arts have historically been underfunded. Especially when it pertains to individuals who are striving to create and advance their craft.” ”
SUPPORT THE FUND
Our inaugural class of grantees is incredibly impressive. We provided grants to Bill Batson, Shirley Crabbe, Adam Falcon, Samuel Harps, and Conor MacFinn. All received funds to boost their artistic practice and to advance their every day work. We hope you will learn more about each of these incredible talents here and support them in their endeavors. You can also hear in their own words, the impact that the Fund has had on their work these past few months:
As we enter the ninth month of the pandemic, we anticipate a higher volume of applications in the next round in December. Your support can help us provide support to Rockland County artists - many of whom are either underemployed or unemployed at this time, and may be for the foreseeable future.
One week from today is Giving Tuesday. If you find yourself in a position to give, please consider supporting the Artist's Support Fund. Grant sizes range from $250-$500, so a little truly goes a long way.
YES, I WANT TO SUPPORT LOCAL ARTISTS!
And, if you are an artist in need of support, you can view the guidelines and application here.
On behalf of the board of directors and staff of the Arts Council of Rockland, we wish you all the best as we enter the holiday season. We are so grateful for your support today and EVERY day.
Sincerely,
Cheryl Baun
Executive Director
